Pool training.
Split level images are difficult to get right. Here I decided to leave the underwater scene in black and white, but to paint colour on to the main above water elements of the picture. Green for the trees, yellow for the buildings and blue for the sky. PhotoShop was used to remove the colour from the original slide and add the grain. Separate image layers were then paintedwith green, blue and yellow for the trees, buildings and sky. The opacity of the painted layers was reduced so that detail from the black and white showed through. Overall just three pure colours were used. Getting the focus perfect for a split image is difficult and the above water part of the picture is not quite right. The grain helps to obscure the lack of crispness above the water.
